While this is mostly true, I have seen many knives that look like this one.
Most likely intentionally broken to do a job that the owner needed done eg. cleaning a pipe etc.

My father carried a small Schrade pen knife, and a Schrade Sharpfinger for all of his camping/hunting/fishing tasks. His knife collection consisted of a lot of folders marked Pakistan ;), which weren't as bad as the ones nowadays.

Everybody else I know carried some type of jackknife, mostly made by Schrade or Imperial.
