Old Engineer Old Engineer Still no sign of it, but I have a patient streak- one Stag knife went MIA for SIX years.:D Miracles can happen- have to say the car has not been searched that thoroughly ...

Vry much appreciate your greetings Harry, may you spend a very pleasant Christmas with those closest to you.

Thanks, Will

Continuing my new year's project of pulling out some knives that I haven't handled or carried in quite a while, here is an inexpensive but rather nice little Rough Rider. It was originally amber bone, which I find kind of boring. If I remember correctly, I tried dying this one blue but didn't like the result, so I attempted red. The end result was a very deep brown, almost black, not too different from an ebony appearance.
I remember when I bought this one that there were two in stock in the local knife store. There was a young fellow there with his father, who was buying him his first knife. The youngster picked out this model and I decided to take the other one. I think we both made a good choice!

I watched an old episode from the series In the Heat of the Night one evening last week. The character the Chief was talking too was whittling on a stick through their conversation - taking a picture to capture the knife proved impossible, but I identified it as a Case Hammerhead - not your everyday whittler! The Hammerhead in the embedded picture is one of mine. OH

I have a number of lockbacks that I like just fine all things considered, but I do find myself wishing they were slipjoints every time I go to put one of them back into my pocket.
Especially the little ones !
I really like this knife and it's probably my favorite lockback now, but it could be right up there with my Buck 305's if it were a slipjoint.

I couldn't get this amazing harvest orange mountain man lock back out of my head after seeing it on the exchange. It's a Queen made knife with Robeson branding. I'm pumped that I went for it because this thing is ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC. Fit and finish is excellent but that bone.... Oh man that bone is something else!
