Took my son camping and decided he needed his own knife so we stopped at Cabela’s and got him this Old Timer Golden Bear. He did some good whittling with this and hopefully will for years to come.

How about the smallest lockback ever produced in the US.

These little guys are tiny but perfectly capable well built knives, and for me it's going to be just another small pocket knife.

I don't put knives or flashlights or anything on my keys, but if I was going to the Schrade LB1 just might be the ticket.

I had one of those little Schrade knives, kept it on my key chain so long it wore thru the bail. Sent it back to Schrade and they replace the bail, polished the wood, and sharpened the blade and sent it back to me. I had to take it off my key chain after 9 11, as I was traveling a lot for work, now it sits in my chest of drawers with my other knives. John

Sweet little knife!

How does the LB1 compare with the SP1? My SP1 is 2 5/8" closed (but 2 7/16" if you ignore the lanyard loop) and 4 1/4" open (4 1/16" without lanyard loop). The lanyard loop is fixed and molded into the handle.

The lb1 is 2-1/4 closed and 3-7/8 open not counting the bail.
I was actually wondering how small the SP1 was, I always just assumed it was made to compete with the Gerber ultralight LST which is 2-5/8 and I guess I was right.

I actually just noticed that this little LB1 doesn't have a nail nick and it's another pleasant surprise, because it's a nice change of pace to see them left off when you don't need it.

I'm so used to almost all pocket knives having nail nicks regardless of their necessity , and I just assumed it had one without realizing till now that it didn't because the knife is so easy to just pinch open.

I guess that's probably why they arbitrarily include them on so many lockbacks and very pinchable slipjoints or friction folders, it's just something pocket knives have.
