Hey Gents and Ladies,
Been seeing alot of YCS love lately, and figured I would fan the flames some for those who love em like I do. Here are two of mine. The one with the inlay work is by Sanu, he worked with Bura back in the day and his work is incredible and rivals Buras, this feels alive in your hand and you could swim in those fullers, it is an amazing piece of art and one heck of a find. The second one is made by Sher the tiger and is amazing just the same, it is a bit larger and heavier than the Sanu but feels great in the hand. The carving on the handles is crazy detailed, when I got it I cleaned it up and scrubbed all the red rouge out of every nook and cranny, and it came alive. This is one brute of a blade. Both are cherished pieces in my collection. Check em out.

Beautiful pugs! I like how the inlays have aged on your Sanu piece. The carvings really look nice on the Sher as well. Hey your awls are pointed?

Thanks, pugs, for starting this thread. Every time I see a YCS for sale I get an urge to try for it, even though I already have three nice ones. Here they are:

YCS by Kumar, 18.5" OAL and 32 oz. Inlaid Osage Orange handle. Handle color is a bit lighter than it shows in this photo, more like Pugs'.

YCS big boy by Vim, 18.5" OAL and 36 oz.

The prize of the set. This one is by Bura, 17" OAL and 30 oz. Carved handle, deep fullers and blade engraved on both sides. The two kardas are also engraved!

Amazing, totally need one now >_< Been thinking about getting a khuk as a show piece, and a ycs is it. There's one being sold on the forums now as we speak...

Ahem...I have it on good authority that some are in the immediate future, made by the "Star of David" kami and his bros! Stay tuned.........

very cool, would love to see some new YCS-- the "star of david" btw is a mandala-- will post mine here in the future-- I have a 2000 by sanu with no tip chakma in sterling silver. 28 ounces 17 inches( i think)

Kumar is the star of David, Tirtha is actually the drum, which we lovingly call the beer mug (per Karda), but auntie says that young sher is the Madal Drum.

I do know that the six pointed star, which is the star of david, is kumar's mark.

Seeing all these photos, I am more than ever impressed with the skills of the HI kamis. The YCS is not an easy knife to make. It has a very distinctive blade shape (even compared to other khukuri models), deep twin fullers and a well-defined handle shape. Yet all the samples pictured above, by several different kamis, conform to that standard perfectly. The only difference is in the degree of decoration (carvings and inlays), type of handle material, and length/weight. A stranger studying them might think they were made by one person, and that person a true master.

the YCS is one of the most distinctive and signature models in the HI line up

Wow! I had no idea how beautiful they could make those kukris. I absolutely am in love with ying yang model, I have to have one after... Maybe after I get the Hanshee. Thank you for teasing me, you have given me something to think about all week. God I am going broke, I must stop these daily visits lol.

Pugs-The carved YCS is stunning. I would be hesitant to even handle it too much for fear of wear or damage. I remember seeing this on the exchange and forcing myself to leave it there. Now I know it was a mistake. Thanks for showing and sharing these magnificent blades! Joe.
