For the money, Spyderco Endura best folder ever ?

I have taken the Endura for granted for years. And it has always been a great folder for its price. Considering the excellent ergonomics, blade shape and size, materials used including really good steel, grip texture, Sleek profile, light weight, smooth opening and authoritative lock up etc. Is there another folder out there that can stand up to it for value ? I just took mine out of the dish rack after cutting up some food, no rust, super sharp, and it functions like it just came out of the factory box. I had an epiphany of appreciation for the completeness of the design package. I'll put a drop or two of mineral oil in the sliding surfaces and she's ready and waiting for my next use. What a great knife !

The only thing I don't like is the rivets, but other than that it is a nice knife.

The problem is that you used the word "best", which will always be subjective.

For the money, SAK and Leatherman both beat it by sales qty and daily carry usage, so wouldn't they be "better"?

If cost is the primary factor in this equation, I'd say that the Byrd Cara Cara 2 is better value than the Endura. Sure, I'd rather have an Endura, but with tax and shipping being equal, it cannot beat the Cara Cara 2 for around the $20 mark. Just my two-cents...

There are a lot of really high value folders for under 25 dollars. My vote going towards 'best for the money' would probably be the Ontario Rat 1 or Cara Cara/Meadowlark

For me, the Endura is a little too big for an EDC, (have the green G-10 model) but it's a great knife that I always carry with me when I am kayak camping. It actually works great as a fillet knife to clean fish for a shore lunche.

Lets not forget the Buck 110.

Yes Indeed. I was waiting for someone to speak up about the beloved 110. This thread wasn't actualy about specific semantics, it was part appreciation and part question. I welcome any views\comments regarding folders that are a great value. Heck, I get a bang out of my Spydie Resilience also, when it comes to value for bucks spent. But I have come to appreciate the Endura on a different level now.

Yeah, as others have mentioned declaring anything the "best" is always going to be problematic. But I do agree that the Endura is a fantastic knife. If I could only have one ~$50 or less knife, it would be the Endura.

love my endura but the stretch is better imo. best is all in op`s opinion as well as those replying. i guess you could argue that chain store knives sell allot more than a spyderco or benchmade but id say that could disqualify it as well as qualify it because you could look at it like ... well sells so well because its cheap, and lets face it theres a ton of people whod never consider paying more than $20 for a pocket knife. and thats fine too. in the end of these threads its always a wash between high end , mid range and low end knives. everyone has a favorite.

I've fallen in love with my Buck Bobleman CF. $25 - SHARP - Perfect size - and framelock!

I think Kershaw offers better finishing at that price point. But for pure functionality, it's hard to beat the Endura or Delica.

I have several Enduras as work knives/loaners. 4 total now and all have pretty severe play against the lock. Several friends own Enduras and Delicas with similar traits. The lock has never failed, but it's a pet peeve of mine. My Police 3s have no such play in them. I'm told the wiggle in the Enduras is within operating specs though. The Endura is a nice knife, but can't put it in my EDC lineup with the blade play issues.

Weird -- I have something north of half a dozen Endura 4s, and none of them (or any of my other Spyderco back-locks, for that matter) has developed any vertical blade play. Guess that'll be something to keep an eye out for as they get more and more use.

Meh, wasn't really impressed with my Endura 3. I sold it pretty soon after I bought it.

Now, the Manix 2 is one damn fine knife. For 70-80$ I can't think of another knife as supremely awesome as the Manix 2.

Personally I think the Para 2 would be, and or the Military. :)

Value doesn't mean cheap, the Endura is a great value knife. Lol at comparing it to the cara cara...

Endura best folder ever? YES!
I love others but if I could only have one model that would be it.
