For the price of the gun, the blade should be better...

The only .500 I've shot had a 10" barrel. That thing looks like it would have lots of recoil. Very nice looking.

I'm not understanding the complaining. Did you buy a pistol, or did you blow $1k so you can get a freebie knife?

Did you want S&W to spend more money on providing a better-quality knife so that they would need to decrease an equal amount of $ towards the quality of gun?

Just surprised that they went that cheap. It's part of the S&W Emergency Survival Kit, so it's not a 'freebie' - which doesn't really exist (the cost of freebies are always included in the price). Either way, for survival's sake, I think the steel should be a bit better than that.

Wait, has S&W branded any NON-china-made knives? http://www.smith-wesson.com/webapp/...4_750001_750051_757864_-1_757853_757837_image
I am not sure which Chinese company makes their knives, but most are of the dirt-cheap "tacticool" variety.

And I know that this may be a crazy question, but any comment on the quality of the knife in use? Lots of China-made knives are plenty tough for "survival" or other purposes...

This is the only S&W knife that I've had my hands on. As for use, I may sell the gun at some point due to ammo costs, so I have no intentions of messing it up (which may be easy to do depending on how the steel holds up).

Has anyone else had experiences with the S&W knives? I, too, am curious.
