For the traditional knife crowd

I really like the 2018 301 forum knife with elk scales. Sometimes I think I would like it more if it were a three blade typical stockman but as a two blade with cpm154 ff grind it’s about as good as it gets and I was able to acquire two of them. I like some texture to the handle scales for a non slip grip and elk is extra nice looking taboot.
I wouldn’t mind if they had some synthetic stag in the 300 series for a working knife or jigged bone. Saw cut is good but I’d like to see some different color besides black. But that’s just me. Lol

I too would love for Buck to update the 300 series with bone and antler or other delrin colors, maybe throw a 2 blade jack in the mix.
Definitely, and literally all they'd have to do is leave a blade off one of the stockman.
A clip blade and sheeps foot blade is a great combo.

Same here, I'm fine with their valox scales, but a few other colors to choose from would be a nice addition they could make fairly easily.
I know they had various color choices for the 305 clipper ( a lancer where the coping blade was replaced with scissors )

Veltic, I have never seen a true Buck Jackknife in person or for sale either American or China made.

Thanks STDK. I didn't think they did either but was't sure. Other then there 303 cadet a two blade jack style is one I would carry.

So any pattern that has two blades out of the same end is considered a jack? Learned something today. Thanks.

I think historically things may not have been this cut and dry, but yes.
They don't always have Jack in the name like trappers and Barlow's...ect, but if it's a 1-2 blader opening on one end it's a type of Jack.

And I just realized that would make the 302 solitaire a single blade Jack, as well as well as the 704 maverick.

I would like Buck to offer a classic 2 blade serpentine Jack, that would be a stockman frame with only 2 blades which are on one end.
Maybe Buck model 300 ? I don't think they used 300 for anything in the series.
Just removing the sheeps foot from the 301 or 303 would be easiest, but if theres little work in using the sheeps foot in the pen or spey blades place that's what I'd like to see .

In Levine's Guide to Knives and their Values, 4th Edition, Bernard Levine offers this definition:

"JACK KNIFE" is a general term for the simplest form of folding knife. The standard jack knife is single-ended. Its blade or blades are hinged at one end of the handle. There are also a few large heavy-duty double-end jack knife patterns. Double-end jack knives have a large blade in each end.

Small knives with blades pivoted at both ends are called "pen knives." Tiny single-ended knives with just a short pen blade are called "quill knives." Although they are constructed like jack knives, quill knives were the original pen-sharpening knives, so they too are classed as pen knives.

I have been given conflicting information before regarding historical usage of the term, but this is the way I've always known it to be.

More traditional pocket knives with nice handles. I’d like a nice LoomFixer from Buck.

300BUCKS (our former Buck sub-forum Moderator) had that idea and actually had a few made-up like that on the 303 frame. He even sent one to Buck so they could consider making them. I don’t believe he ever heard back. OH

Current production, I still like the 110, 301 and 103, but cannot afford to get one of them.

I'm not really interested in the more modern one hand openers, even if funds were available.
