For the TRUE HOGS:

I didn't even know I wanted one of these till just now thanks a lot let the hunt begin

I THINK there was even an A.G. Russell Sting (Knock off?) made of a similar material for a while.

FWIW, California law comes down hard on on carrying anything that could be construed to be a "weapon designed to evade detection", and not just detection by metal detectors; if I recall correctly, the laws mention sword canes, knives disguised in lipstick tubes, pens, tire pressure gauges, and such. Also fixed blades that aren't carried in plain sight, regardless of length, so for instance a 2" blade neck knife innocently carried under a t-shirt is potentially huge trouble. IIRC, though, a katana, in plain sight on your belt is technically not a problem, nor is a (mythical) folding katana (in its folded state), in your pocket.

So yeah, carrying the Stealth Hawk here would be a bad idea.

Disclaimer: this is a) what I remember, b) from reading, long ago, c) the state law, not any local ones, and d) I am not a lawyer.

These do come up for sale with good regularity on BF and other sites. I have passed on many. Would just rather spend my dwindling pile of knife cash on other items...Busse; Becker; Winkler; and recently purchased my first Murray Carter...It never ends. And that's wunnerful...;-)

That Sting was a non-metallic version of the original AGR Sting, not any knock-off. IIRC, it was made of glass-filled nylon by injection molding, not a layered composite like this Busse. I have a Sting around here someplace, along with three of his Delta Dart model. (what can I say, artifacts of my youthful mall ninja phase.)

There were also several sheath variations (colour, design (taco [a couple variations of these], wrap-around(?)) that went with the MP45 blades.

I think I've got three different ones.

Will have to dig them out soon to see.

I have a sting in "Black Chrome". I wouldn't use it for anything as I don't think they make them any more.

I have a few, too.

He brought it back, but the new version is not drop-forged in Solingen like the original.

Shomer-Tec was the main outlet for the Stealth Hawk. They did all of the paracord wraps. Some were O.D. green and some were black. There were even some in tan with a very limited number in a Spectra core 550 paracord in black. They don't have any left but they do have some high tech cords if someone wants to do their own wraps.

Welcome to BladeForums, and especially the Busse forum!
"didn't even know I wanted one" - that happens a lot around here, with people posting pictures and/or saying how much they like their new knife. ;):D

For some reason I seem to remember reading somewhere that these and designed a a back up/ deep cover piece for undercover police officers (narcotics?) that might be subject to being swept with a metal detector by the "bad guys". Anyone else remember anything like that?

Regardless, cool collectors item.

Appreciate the welcome no Busse in my rotation yet but I will soon do my best to fix this.

I sent one of the A.G. Russell versions to friend who's an airline pilot right after 9/11 to carry until they fixed the cockpit door.
