You are absolutely right about that. However, when I was in Desert Storm sitting out in the middle of the desert, on the nights that there was no moon you couldn't see your hand in front of your face. It was freaky. Also, deeply unpleasant on those nights you had to be the OP/LP. On the nights with a full moon, you could read, write, play cards and pretty much act exactly as you would during the day. It probably sounds a little dumb to say this, but back then I was fascinated at how cool that was. Now that I understand exactly how much ambient light there is, even out in the country where I grew up, it's less so...
