I recently discovered in this state (Maine) Its perfectly legal to carry a fixed blade, single edged. There are also no laws as to what blade length you can carry. I spoke to Law dogs about how they feel about carrying fixed blades. They basically told me there are no blade limit laws, and they really don't carry, long as you aren't doing some illegal. I also asked about concealing a blade, such as a neck knife. It gets really cold here, and I really don't want to keep my coat open for it. Anyway, he said again what they don't know they don't really care. Can't hurt them.

So the point is, I've discovering the need to carry a neck knife, and folder. Different knives, different jobs. Use the neck knife for harder tasks at work. A cheap CRKT tanto(though I wanted the spear point) Folder for everything else.

My question is what do you guys carry for everyday use, and have you ever had a problem with it?

I'd hope to carry the CS SRK, but haven't got the balls for it yet.

My 24/7 carry is: Spyderco SE FRN Endura on left, CE Millie 440V on right, SS Dragonfly PE neck. If I have my wallet I have the card in there. If I'm wearing a belt I have at least a multi-tool on me, usually a fixed as well.

I'm starting to get to the point that I only grab my 'fly to use if I need a detailed job(close to fingers and such). Usually grab my millie or 4" fixed for most use.

I can carry 4" folder concealed, after 4" has to be visable(even clipped to pocket, rather than IWB), and I can carry a 6" fixed without any problems up here. Free to carry whatever when I'm not in city limits, but the 4" and 6" is all the city cops allow us without hassle.

The only times I get harassed about my knife choice is when I use the fixed to open a bag of chips or pop a liner out of a coke to check. Especially when I'm in heavy sheeple areas, like the mall. I've been known to clean my nails on the bus with the 4" fixed.

Well, let's see what is on my person right now.
1. Emerson, Satin Super Commander, RFP.
2. Microtech, Kestrel, LFP.
3. Emerson, Lagriffe around the neck.
4. Leatherman Wave, on belt with a mini mag and a Kimber CDP Ultra 2.
I was just out in the woods with my GF and had a HI 18" AK on the hip. My BOB goes everywhere with me. It has a Busse BM in it as well as a SAK Rucksak and a Leatherman Supertool. I guess that is all that I have on me at the moment.
BTW. WELCOME to Bladeforums. It is one of the places that has cost me more money than I care to say. I never knew how much good steel was out there until I came here. I have paid dearly since!!:D   Nice to see more Maniacs here;)

Wow..another one. I thought I was the only Maniac.

Could you post a pic of what you carry? The locals ever give you problems? I haven't run into any yet, but then I've haven't been carrying fixed blades long. I've just seen many others, so I decided to join the ranks. :D

Just got back from the grocery store with my usual belt carry. Mag-light 2AA on left hip, multi-tool on right near center, and fixed on right hip as close to front as possible.

I was wearing my combats, and my t-shirt was tucked in. Didn't get any odd looks or hear any mutterings this trip.

could help that it's +18c right now and too damn hot to wear my vest today.

Here is a shot of todays carry out in the woods. In town, the only differance would be no Khukuri. The rest is there on me. A camera or other vest is a great help hiding and carrying all of these items.

It seems that I can't post pics the way I used to.:( I will try to figuire this out.

Mine changes so much it's ridiculous...

Started out this morning with my Leatherman on my hip, a BM Large Ascent in my right pocket with my faithful lil' Tinker in my Left hand pocket. I was working right at the side of the house, figured I could just grab whatever other blade I wanted, should the need arise.

Then went to the grocery store...

Wound up carrying a Vanhoy Custom fixed blade, and my BM Axis AFCK once again with the Tinker shoved in my left pocket.

Then went to Wal-Mart to get a few Easter goodies for the kid, wound up carring the AFCK and Tinker once again, with my TOPS Pasayten fixed blade on my right hip set up for a reverse grip.

Right now as I type this I don't have anything but a small Arno Bernard neck knife.

One more odd inconsistency is that I used to have my Griffe around my neck 24/7, but I've been burning out on neck knives lately, so...It's been stayin' at home. Seem to usually have some kinda other fixed blade on my belt most times though.

I'm actually thinking about getting a concealment sheath so I can carry my BK5, a Hells Belle, or a CS Trailmaster concealed.

It really might behoove me some day to settle into some more consistent kinda knife carry for them emergency access situations, but...then it wouldn't be nearly as fun.:D

Although I have a Michigan concealed weapons permit, I only make use of that when hunting (carrying my firearm in a shoulder rig, sometimes under my jacket or game vest). I feel most safe with a knife. I carry a Walther Allied forces with the clip in the tip up position, either in a jacket pocket or in my jeans hip pocket, clip on the outside. Works for me, just another man's opinion.

And please.... no jokes about taking a knife to a gun fight.

While sitting here at home on this Easter Sunday, I've got on me the following:
Swisstool X
Del Blue necker
Blackwood credit card knife
DDR Bullnose Maxx
Elrod bird/trout FB
Mayonized Lg Sebenza

Arizona is great (the only thing about it that's great) in that there are basically no knife laws other than needing a CCW for any concealed knife over 4". At work most of my people (I'm a security superviser) now carry at least 1 knife if not quite a few more. The only restriction at work is carrying obvious FB's. Other than that I've never had a problem.

I am currently wearing what I carry every day, so here's the inventory...

  1. Camillus CUDA Maxx Bowie
  2. Darrel Ralph Madd Maxx: 4" spearpoint recurve
  3. SOG PowerLock Multi-Tool
  4. Victorinox SwissChamp XLT
  5. Leatherman Crunch Multi-Tool
  6. Swiss-Tech Utili-Key
    [/list=1]

The single-blades are clipped to opposite pockets. The multi-tools and SAK are in horizontal belt sheaths. The Utili-Key is on my keychain for real emergencies. :D

I find a strange satisfaction in being a freak even among fanatics... :p

Hi,
Welcome to BF.

1. Leatherman Super Tool 200, Sheath carry on right side.
2. Leatherman Micra, right front pocket with house key on it.
3. Leatherman Tool adapter, right front coin pocket
4. Buck 701, Left front pocket.

My EDC multi-tool was a Wave up until Saturday afternoon when I bought the Super Tool 200 and tool adapter :)

The way the law is stated is that you should have a reason for carrying that big knife. Any sort of outdoor excuse has worked for me on multiple occations when the local cops frowned upon my recon tanto. Also, I am pretty sure that no one will hastle you if you arn't a teenager. You cannot, however, conceal a knife. You can carry that big blade (or a handgun) perfectly legally as long as it is in plain sight. However, the law also leaves it up to the descrecion of the officer and I known of people being asked to put away their larger knives or a gun when they show up to public gatherings, even though it is technically allowed. What part of maine are you guys from?

My work EDC consists of:

Spyderco FRN Endura SE
Buck 110
Leatherman SuperTool 200
Leatherman Micra

I use all of them at least a couple of times a day, except maybe the Micra(you never know when you may need scissors. ;)) The Endura sees the majority of the tough cutting, while the 110 fills the gap when I may prefer a plainedge to the fully serrated Spydie. The ST200 is used mainly for its' tools(screwdriver, file, awl, etc..). My non work carry just includes the ST200, Micra and my Spyderco Military PE. :D

I hate to rain on your parade, but if you get arrested and booked for *anything* else and you don't think they'll use that neck knife to tack on a concealed weapons charge, you're dreamin'.

On most days, I carry a couple folders and a small multitool, but my work carry is much larger:

Large Classic Sebenza
Benchmade 921S (Switchback)
Trace Rinaldi Enigma (fixed blade)
SOG Powerlock Multitool
Leatherman Micra Multitool

Personally, I carry Four. Used to be 2, but i'm up to 4 now ^.^;; anyhow, I carry:
The originals:
A 3" Pakistan job, kept not too sharp, a general purpose kkife, boxes etc.
a 3" serrates explorer rogue II, a but sharper, for when a sharper one is called for.
the new additions:
a 2.5" buck knife, _very_ sharp
and a letherman tool (that's all it says)

i've got them all the time, 'cept at school, BIG no no...
