For those that lanyard / fob their knives - post up!

I like having the option of a lanyard, but I am with the taco, and I think they get pretty grimy and disgusting pretty quick. Same with a Strider Wrap, you just about have to expect to remove it every so often, unless it is a safe queen. Though, I love a Strider Wrap.

Another thing to consider is your lanyard or fob being caught on brush, and pulling your cutting tool (or whatever it is attached to) out of your pocket. I have had this happen with a handkerchief or three.

My friend Junkyard lost a pretty nice knife I think, though he did not need a lanyard, he caught the clip.

A non-snagging lanyard design:

I use the wrapping method, from Col. Applegate according to my initial exposure to it, shown in Hector81's picture. It works to keep the knife in hand in both directions, whether chopping or thrusting. With the rubber washer used to construct the non-snagging lanyard, the loop around your hand can easily be tightened by tugging on one of the tails.
