Would you do it again? When you
opened it was your
response "oh my I can't believe I got these awesome blades!"? or was it more like "I would never had bought these under normal circumstances!"? Be honest!!

I enjoyed it. Just don't sell your house or anything. I ended up selling the ones I got over time and I did not lose any money. It was a great way to get my hands on blades I wouldn't have thought to order. Some of the blades are stunning heirloom quality. We know the shop makes good products, so the bag represents an excellent value. But, you know, excitement is subjective. Expect to get what they say you will get and nothing more. Let yourself be surprised.

I didn't order on the original run because I figured it would be full of O2W blades and I had ordered all of them. Once I saw what people were getting I kicked myself, so when they offered the second run I ordered a $500 box. Last night I ordered two $500 boxes, so yes, I'd do it again :)

Couple of thoughts..
  • I think the Busse team did an amazing job of comparing what people bought previously to what was put in their boxes. I cannot confirm this is true but I could not find anyone that said "damn I already bought all of these", except in cases where they bought them from the exchange.
  • There were two models included that to date have never been sold individually. The BT6 and the thinner SHE2 variant.
  • The earliest people in got some pretty amazing custom shop pieces.
  • For people who bought multiple boxes they were often combined and included some high dollar blades like CS AALB's and WTF's.

Just based on economics and the SRP of Busse knives I think the $500 box is a better deal than the $250 one. It leaves them more room for some cool custom shop pieces.

I was in for the grab bags last year and the grab bag steak knives in spring Ganza
Im in for another grab bag for sure it was a real blast and very happy what I got

Well said. My feelings almost exactly.

Ordered a $250 bag last time and was very pleasantly surprised with what I received (one piece of INFI and a small piece of SR101). However, as Mr. Pirtle said, once everyone's grab bag scores started rolling in, the self-kicking began. The anticipation was thrilling, and it was great fun seeing the grab bag scores as they happened.

It seemed like most bags were a little over the estimated value once you added all the price tags up. Example, my $250 bag valued at $350 was actually $395.95 according to the price tags. You're definitely getting a smoking deal as long as you're willing to roll them dice.

And hey, as Mr. Tigris pointed out, it's entirely possible to move your bag contents on the exchange for what you put in, if not more depending on demand.

After seeing everyone's haul from the last time, I was very angry at myself for not getting in on it. There are a lot of Busse and Kin that I haven't bought under normal circumstances so the opportunity to let someone else pick eliminates my overly analytical side.

We all know Jerry & Dan are 100% good-to-go stand up guys so I fully expect us all to be very pleasantly surprised this time.

It's great, I received a Trash1 last year and have been buying choppy, ResC blades ever since.
I also think it's great for the exchange, it was great to see so many blades not in OP2W

This was the 3 $500 bags I got the first time. If I were in a position to get bags this time, you bet I would.

I got blades I wouldn't have ordered, but decided I liked the main one (Cali-legal AA) and kept it. If you don't have many Bussekin blades already, it's a great deal, and if you have the time to sell off what you don't want, you can't really lose.

You've all convinced me. Just ordered a $500 grab bag. My first purchase from Busse in quite awhile.

Couldn't resist. Ordered a $500 bag.

Is that a Custom Shop Hog Hunter on the right side?

It's a shame that it has such a showy handle on it... I would love that blade shape as a user, but the molar(?) slabs make it "pretty".

First world problems, right?

It seems that they put some nice rare touches on the blades, a nice way to enhance the value of the packages. That black on black BT6 is a stunner, and that gorgeous infidu-looking knife is a sweet score as well.
