That'd be an easy cheap way to carry several metal saws for light work, for example.
If you felt adventurous, there's no reason why you couldn't file a couple of staggered nicks on the spines to make them easier to fold out. Heck, you could even "wave" it.

This is very cool. It reminds me a lot of a simplified home-made version of the little razor and saw tools made by Derma-Safe:

I have to admit though, half the reason I picked them up was to use as a pattern for trying to make my own variant. I think there's a lot of potential for these kinds of little things.
