Forced Patina Gone Bad.....????

What? I did this and they will replace? You sure?

Surprisingly they are really good about repairs. Just send it with a nice letter, and ask them nicely. Tell them it is your favorite knife. They have very good customer service. They may repair or replace it.

Who's to say those springs aren't completely shot? If you have two of those to compare, one that's been stored partially open for years and another that's been stored with the blades closed...

Bob,

Just stop by Woolworth's and pick up the closed-blade version.

Oh, wait. Woolworth’s is out of business.

I guess you’re out of luck.

:)

I can't get blades to stay partially open without them snapping closed on my fingers. The blades on that thing are probably glued or soldered into place.

Marko, nothing hot. Room temp. And I too have done hot process (tea/coffee) with no issues.

Yeah, springs just break. I'm not sure there's any cost effective QC that could prevent it. There's a crack or surface or internal defect that multiple open blades reveals. I suspect that the spring would have snapped eventually anyway. Knife companies and their customers just have to eat it and smile.
