Picked up my first two Opinels at a local knife store yesterday and figured I would try my hand at forcing a patina on them. All feedback welcome. Thanks for looking. I apologize for my poor picture taking skills.
This is a #8. I put the blade in a glass of Korbel champagne for about one hour for the patina.

This is a #7. I stuck the blade in a plain onion for about an hour for the patina.

I love the first one simply because it is almost completely covered, yet it still has some character to it. It also seems that there is a blue-ish hue to it as well??

I like that onion patina I may have to try that one. As for me I've found that vinegar works wonders.

Thanks, it does have some slight bluing towards the rear of the blade. I have no idea why some of the blade didn't patina. I cleaned both sides with rubbing alcohol prior to starting.

I just tried the forced onion patina but didn't like some spots. Is there a way technique to get rid of it?
