Forced Patina?

Any recommendations on how to make a forced patina? Also does it give better corrosion resistance?

What steel? Any slightly acidic liquid can be used with non stainless. A soak in vinegar, mustard to make patterns, citrus fruit, bleach and cold blue is how Rick Marchand does his, and yes it will help prevent corrosion, but not make it maintenance free.
