Drooling over a forefather Bowie, anyone have any actual handle or woods time with them and feel like dropping some knowledge bombs on me? I love my TG and this looks bigger and meaner but I do like to work’em and interested in feedback. Thanks in advance crew!

I bought one and it felt great in my hand, unfortunately I had some things come up and I had to let it go, unused. I would not hesitate to buy another. My advice is to get one while the prices are good. You will not regret it. If you don't like it you'll be able to get your money back out of it. Coffin handle Busse knives hold there value. Look at the Battle Shark and Original Trough Raider.
The anorexic Trough Raider is also a great value right now...
This is just my $0.02, your milage may very...

Ive used my anorexic trough raider a fair bit chopping and splitting. I know its not a Forefather Bowie but its quite similar. Chops really well. Maybe better than my anorexic battle mistress. Splits great - even with the swedge, although it does chew up batons. The only "issue" would be the handle when chopping as i could see it potentially coming out of your hand if careless. However that could be remedied with a lanyard, or just holding onto it properly and concentrating. I've chopped a lot and never had an issue although it doesn't "hook" you in like the Fusion handle does. Its a wicked knife and stabs deep into 2x4's in both forward and reverse grip. The guards are awesome, and the forefathers might even be better as they are rounded like the team gemini. I like the recurve on the Raider a lot so i went with that. Get either. You will love it.

it would be a vicious weapon too, if ever used in a such a fashion i.e zombie apoc. Definitely has scare factor, too

True, I didn’t mean it wouldn’t chop. It will but the Bushwacker is more blade heavy, I thought the Bowie was blade light if that makes sense. Plus the coffin shape would not be very comfortable. Even the MMD is more blade heavy and has a very comfortable grip.

Yeah, was really hard to phrase it without sounding like a jackass...I wanted to ask if it comes from personal experience with the knife, but it just kept coming out sounding like "how would you know?"

So, I just kept the second part. I really liked the the design, and it still eats at me for not having one...but then I look at my warpath and realize I need more money then more knives at the point

I have tons of chopping blades, I have no need for another one. The only reason I bought the Forefather bowie is because of the coffin handle and the optical illusion that the blade is a traditional movie style bowie even though its a drop point, lol. I am more likely to use it in the kitchen than I am in any Forrest.

I did end up picking one up, so once I get some time on it I’ll add my two cents. I usually personally baton more than I like to chop if that makes any sense at all. I usually like to get pretty far out as well so trying to balance that weight game out as well. Thanks all!

Unpacking, joy joy!😄
How’s the new place?🍻

It's a disaster. I have boxes all over the place and am still making trips to the storage unit to pick stuff up. I downsized to half the square footage, so having trouble with finding places for my stuff. sucks. But love the place.

I probably gave away about 80 ish bottles to all my friends before I left and my son in law took the rest, which was maybe 20 more. I am missing one or two boxes of whisky. One box being a little pricey as it had a Laphroaig, 25, laphroaig 30, Macallan Oscuro, Macallan estate reserve and several more rare laphroaigs
