Forester vs. Rucksack

I'm sure this is not news, but I finally noticed it. The Vic Forester has the same combination of tools and the same layout as my trusty Vic Rucksack that I've EDC'ed for years. What gives? Does the Forester have a liner lock? I have become very used to and partial to the side lock on my Rucksack. I've considered replacing it with a OHT but still am undecided about the liner lock. Maybe someone with experience in both could post a comparison of side lock vs. liner lock? (Hint).

One more thing. Is there an easy reference as to which Vic and/or Wenger 4 3/8" knives use which style of lock? I've noticed most of the online descriptions do not specify. Thanks.

Again, I know this seems obvious to many, but I only recently figured it out. I have few brick-and-mortar stores near me that carry an extensive array of SAKs to compare, so some obvious things slip past me.

The Forester has a liner lock which works for the knife AND the bottle opener.
Look carefully at the bottle opener attachment. Compare the two knives. See the difference?

As for the Wenger lockblades, they are all sliding locks.

Some obvious things get past me. After you prompted me I can see the lock protruding slightly above the scales on the Forester. It seems that it can be seen on the opposite end as well. Grasshopper is learning. Back to photo study 101.

So basically, the Forester is a One Hand Trekker, sans the one-hand opening blade.

One thing I like about the locking bottle opener on my OHT (and this Forester): it's built more sturdily than the non-locking ones. I like to use a large flat driver for prying (NEVER the blade!!), both on SAKs and also on most of my Leatherman tools.

Not quite. I the main blade on the OHT has a serated edge, while I believe the Forester's main blade is straight.
