I am thinking of getting ellis knifeworks 6X13 horizontal tube forge. I was wondering if anyone has this one and how do you like it. Can anyone suggest ant alternatives for the newbie.

Thanks Paul:)

You can't go wrong with one of Darren's forges. I have the 8x13 horizontal with a forced air burner and it's great. It easily hits welding temps (I've done more forge welding than blade forging in mine!) and the refractory coatings that Darren sends along with the forge have been holding up very well.

I'd highly recommend the forced air burner unless you don't have electricity in your shop. You can really control the forge atmosphere and temp very well with the forced air setup.

Darren is also a great guy to deal with and takes care of you after the sale if you have questions or problems. I can't say enough good stuff about Darren or his product. Buy it. You won't regret it.

Hi Dozuki,
Today will be the first fire up of my 8x13 horizontal forced air forge from Darren. It looks Real Good.

I think I will be getting one of the horizontals. Unfortunatly I don't have any electricity in my shop but I can run an extention cork if that would work. i tried to e-mail Darren and it came back. Does anyone have a good addresse for him? I was wondering if the 6X13 can reach welding temps. i would like to move up some day. thanks again for the advice.

Going with one of Darren's verturi burner will also work. I have one on a similar sized forge and it gets it up to welding temps with no problem. According to the website you can reach Darren at Info@EllisCustomKnifeworks.com

Hi Paul,

I'm not sure why your email bounced back, but here's my address just in case: Darren@EllisCustomKnifeworks.com , or you can use the address Tim provided. You can also reach me via telephone at: (865) 660-5280.

That 6" forge works great with the venturi burner, no problems hitting forge welding temps. Let me know if I can help with any other questions.

:)

-Darren
