hey guys i need to find a blower for the upcoming forge build, do i need ac or dc? does anyone know of a good place to find one? surplus center is out of the ones we usedto buy. but they have a dc blower right now, but electrical confuses me. thanks for the help guys.

hmmmm what CFM should i go with?

i can't remeber the CFM of the one IG usedto buy but i know it was a lot. though we cut them back a little. think 60 or 70 will do?

thanks guys

Mike, I use this blower from BS depot, it is powerful enough to run 3 or 4 forges when the choke is fully opened, I have never had it open more than 1/2 inch to run my coal forge, and I only needed it open that much for making hammers. it has a solid cast iron housing, the choke plate does NOT come loose from vibrations, it is VERY quiet and puts out ALOT of air with alot of pressure.

If your plugging the motor into an outlet that does not have a converter you will want a AC motor made to run at 60 cycles per second.

My forge blower is just a wood stove blower that I wired to a light dimmer. What type of forge will you be building?

That's funny as hell! Poor Maceybear... always getting ruffed up by us ruffians!:D

Mikey, I use a 164 cfm AC motor from Blacksmith's Depot, and even as big as my forge is it's too much. Don Fogg seems to think that 70 cfm is more than enough on any of the forge sizes we'd use...

thanks guys....

this really helps a lot, just trying to find something for all of those who are going to make a forge at the next hammer-in. if 70 is good then i know they're pretty easy to find for about 50 buck plus shipping from grainger and stuff. thanks again guys

Keith, do you think he can run about 6 forges at once?

damn i posted on pauls name again.... gotta stop using the same computer

This is the blower I use on my little propane bottle forge. It blows just a bit harder than my neighbor's 60 CFM blower, runs real quiet, and cooks my little forge up to sun bright, white hot in no time flat.

This guy is looking to get rid of them, he bought some rediculous amount, like five thousand or something, and hasn't been able to unload them. He has them listed in singles, five blower packages, ten blower packages, 100, and 500 as well.
