The forge is done and works great. i will post pictures.

One forge - $260
Propane tank - $32
Propane - $16

Seeing the kitchen after i made my forge in it - Priceless

For everything else there is a shop

Building a forge in the kitchen  !!!! I call myself knife maker; now we all have to think again ... I've never carried the job that far, maybe cutting everything possible to cut to test my knives, including food packages (it drives my mom crazy :)) or gluing handle slabs at the kitchen top. You are really addicted to this bladesmithing J ....

I must admit that after it was done, i opened all the windows and doors turned on the swamp cooler and started up the forge in the kitchen . works great by the way

It's like a knifemaker's MASTERCARD commercial :D

here are the pictures. the shots of it running are only over a period of around 30-45 sec, gives a good idea of how fast it heats up. looks to be very nice. now just to heat some steel.

bet the neighbors would hearing the sound of a blade being forged in the kitchen at 3 am Tuesday morning ;)

I hope you have really good ventilation. Wouldn't want you to pass out on the kitchen floor! The forge looks really nice anyways. Thanks for making me jealous.

Ahh, you discovered a way to make knives and cut down on your heating bill at the same time! What kind of blower is that? I've got similar plans as how yours turned out, and am looking for one.
