Forge or oven

Can I heatTreat Stainless and cpm154 in a vertical forge without many problems? I don't have the money for both right now. I want to buy an Ellis vt12 but not sure if money would be better spent on an oven.

When I was in your spot, I chose an oven. Three years later, I have two ovens and still no forge That said, I'd still go with the oven over the forge.

You can make great knives without a forge. It is hard to make good knives without an oven. It is impossible to make stainless knives without an oven. A forge is rarely used in making stainless blades in any function.
