Forge problem

I'm hoping someone has some advice for me.I bought a 2 burner venturi (sp?)forge last year off ebay and have just got back into making a few knives. My problem is that I can only get one burner working correctly. I fire one up, let the forge warm up, and attempt to turn on the second burner and can't get it to catch. It will send out some feathery flames at the bottom of the forge, but I can't seem to get a "torch like" effect that the first one gets. Any advice? I have tried adjusting the pressure, and adjusting the height of the nozzle on top of the burner tube.

Thanks,

Walter

Is there a nozzle on the end of the burner?, if not it won't stay lit or at least mine doesn't. Is the gas going straight down the burner tube? The orifice lined up? Have you tried pulling the burners and testing outside the forge in open air? Maybe the forge opening isn't clear. Try all those things first or maybe disassemble the burner orifice and blow it out, making sure it's clear. Sometimes debris can plug the orifice. A lot of the time as with any gas appliance, spiders will lay eggs in the orifice if has been sitting unused. Good luck

The nozzle is there, but I hadn't really thought of cleaning it out. It seems like it's actually getting too much gas, or is under too much pressure. I will pull off the nozzle in the morning and clean it, though. Thanks!

Walter

Hey Walter, If that burner works ok by itself, but your forge can't run two at a time, you may not have enough open surface area to the outside air. Just a thought, as to why it may seem like there's 'too much gas, or is under too much pressure'.
Good luck, Craig
