forge resistant marker?

I'm looking for a way of marking my starting point when I draw out my blade that can withstand the heat of the forge. Do they make a pen like that or am I just stuck marking it with a file and then grinding that off later. I guess I should clarify I'm taking a piece of steel marking off my ricasso and drawing out both blade and a full tang handle from that point.

I've tried that. for me it not there when I pull the steel from the forge it's burned off

maybe try white out ?

I use the white metal marker paint pens from Fastenal. I also found them in the art section at K-mart. It survives HT.

Silver Streak pencils or soapstone.
Every welding supplier has them.
