Another beautiful hawk Butch, I already have one of your spike hawks but you keep tempting me with these hammer polls!

I'm definitely going to have to pick up a hawk one of these days.

I know the advantage of a hammer on the other end allows you to hammer in stakes and such, but what is the advantage of a spike instead?

Practically speaking a spike is nice for clearing rocks from the ground underneath your sleeping bag, moving hot pots over a campfire and its even handy for traversing steep (non-rock) inclines. In places like Afghanistan I hear spike hawks are usefull in gaining entrance into buildings and i always imagined it would be useful in breaking windows out of vehicles. While not practical in our modern reality, back in the day spikes were useful in hooking your opponents' weapon in a close fight and gave one an alternate edge to stick in that poor bastard's skull...not that a hammer poll would be doing him any favors.
