I have posted hardly any pics of my '08 knives so here is another I finished up a couple weeks ago. It was made for a local hiker and is one of my forged blades. 1095, blued WI guard and spacers and a wssi stabilized curly white oak handle. As hard as I tried I could not capture the true beauty in this block of wood with my camera. This is one wild looking handle :) I tried something a little different when coating my blade for hamon on this one too. I have always used satanite in the past but thought I would give APG #36 a try for this one. I'll need to do a few more blades to determine whether or not I like it better, but preliminary results were good  It seemed to stay on the blade much better than satanite for me and produced a really nice looking hamon.

I hope you like her :D ;)

David...Drop-dead gorgeous! You're making me raise my own standards of my knifemaking skills!;)

Wow:eek:That is one pointy knife!

Love the handle & guard;)

Looks like there might be some file work.Any chance of getting a spine shot?

Great job all around:thumbup:

Thanks a lot guys  Yeah, she sure is a pointy one :D I love the looks of the blade too and have to give credit for the inspiration on this one to Ray Richards at http://www.hawknknives.com/ He is the master of pointy knives

JTR, no filework on the blade spine. The spacer grooves and the guard coining were all done with file though. And so sorry, no good top views of this one, she's on the trail with the new owner now.

Man, David, that's a BEAUTY!!!! Nice to see some pictures of your work.....

 That just might be THE best looking knife I've come across yet.

Hopefully it's something in the water here in Michigan ;)

mmmmm, stabby.....

Making knives ? approaching 4 yrs now. Metalworking ? 30 + yrs via my career choice as a tool & die maker/machinist

That being said, if you have machining questions, the guy that has reached the pinnacle of the trade, IMHO, is Nathan the Machinist. Hands down, one of the finest !! And he's still climbing  :D

And thanks for the kind words Nathan C. ;)

I kinda had a feeling about that ;)

You've been working metal for 11 years longer than I've been sucking air... I only have a few months of metal fab experience (engineer, not machinist... though I've gotta say machining is a heck of a lot more fun than engineering) and I'm waiting for the man in the big brown truck to bring my A2 and G10 for my first knife... something tells me I'm not going to want to post up pics of this one :o

What a great looking knife. I really like the curly oak. Just beautiful. Cool hamon too. Hmm me like very much.
