Edit to add - All knives are now SOLD.

Greetings all,

A number of pieces on offer here – something for everyone, particularly forged bowie fans.

All knives shown were purchased by me directly from the maker, have neither been carried, sharpened, nor altered in any way, and are in mint condition.

All knives come with sheaths by maker or by premiere sheathmaker Paul Long – check descriptions.

All prices shown are INCLUSIVE of Paypal (preferred) and shipping within the US and Canada. The number you see is the number you plug into Paypal – no extra or hidden costs. International shipping is available at actual cost and it is pricey.

I am happy to answer any questions you may have, but the first “I’ll take it!” on any given piece – by e-mail or PM – will get the knife.

1) Nick Wheeler Blackwood Southwest Bowie

An exceedingly rare secondary market purchase opportunity here. And an exceptionally high quality bowie. Those fortunate enough to have owned or even handled a Nick Wheeler knife know that his work is just absurdly clean. This piece is no exception.

Specs are as follows:

orig.jpg

  • Blade length of 10 3/8", 2" wide, overall length of 15 3/4";
  • blade steel is 52100 (forged down from 1 3/4" round stock) and hand rubbed to 1200 grit.
  • Handle is a jet black piece of African Blackwood (with subtle dark-chocolate swirls only visible when the light hits it just so).
  • Stainless double-guard and fileworked ferrule.

Don’t let the substantial dimensions fool you into thinking this is a heavy, clunky, piece – all of Nick’s knives are built fast and this is one seriously quick blade.

It is also one with special provenance, in that it was one of Nick’s JS submission knives – as shown in the pic below. Nick took home the coveted Peck Award for best JS submission that year.

And if a Nick Wheeler bowie is a rare offering, a Nick Wheeler bowie with a Nick Wheeler sheath is that much more rare. And that’s what we have here:

Price for the Wheeler bowie is US$1,295

2) Matt Lamey Damascus Bowie

Matt Lamey makes a mean bowie – simple as that. Every one of them looks like it is just spoiling for a fight. And among his terrific bowies, this piece – in damascus and Ceylon Ebony – is particularly sinister. If Darth Vader were to abandon his light saber for a fighting bowie, he’d grab this.

Specs are as follows:

* Blade length of 9 ½” or random damascus with an overall length of 14 ¼ ” . The long clip is sharpened and the cutting edge is absolutely scary sharp – the only way Matt will make it.

* Sculpted handle of blacker-than-black Ceylon Ebony

* Double guard of damascus steel.

The package is completed here by a terrific tooled black leather sheath by the best in the business – Paul Long.

Price for the Matt Lamey bowie is US$ 975.

3) Kyle Royer Blackwood Fighter

If you’re a forged blade guy, chances are you know who Kyle Royer, what he has accomplished and where he is headed. “Rising star” doesn’t quite cover it any more.

This slick fighter is a recent knife from Kyle, purchased at the 2010 Blade Show.

orig.jpg

Specs are as follows:

It has a 5 1/8" 5160 blade, with an overall length of 9 5/8”.
The guard is sculpted mild steel that's been salt blued also.
Ebony handle, coined titanium liners around the grooved and border cut salt blued steel spacer.

Just check out the fine detail work of the guard and ferrule. It’s attention to detail like this that elevates all of Kyle’s pieces.

PLEASE NOTE – this knife also comes with a terrific tooled black leather sheath, all hand made by Kyle. I do not have a photo of it, but if you’ve seen any of his recent sheaths you know what to expect. It is very much the equal of the knife itself.

Price on the Royer fighter is US$950

4) Dave Kelly Red Mallee Burl Hunter:

I’ve been fortunate to have picked up a few pieces from Dave over the years. Health issues have significantly limited his output, but when he’s able to complete a knife, I know from experience that it will be VERY well executed with tremendous attention to detail.

This hunter is no exception.

orig.jpg

The specs are as follows:

* 5” clay quenched blade of 1084, overall length a shade over 10”

* Red Mallee burl hande

* Blued mild steel guard with textured copper spacers

The handle is beautifully contoured and the wood is rich in both figure and colour.

The attention to detail is found in repeating aesthetic elements throughout the knife. The texture of the copper spacers is repeated on the face of the guard. The warm copper of those spacers is repeated in the copper thong tube. And even the mild steel pins have been blued to match the guard.

The sheath is by Paul Long, dyed by Dave to perfectly compliment this full size hunter.

Dave’s pic really captures the warm tones in the wood:

Price on the Kelly hunter is US$ 385

Thanks for looking gents.
