Hi guys :)

I have been going through the shop, gathering up blades that I need to find new homes for. :)

The 3 in this original post are sold folks, but I will be adding more blades as I go my shop and decide what I can force myself to let go of...

standard.jpg

From the top down-----

SOLD! Thanks Joe!!! :)Camp Blade- 10-1/4"L X 1-3/4"W X 0.222" at ricasso (this is a big blade)
It was forged from 1" round stock and differentially hardened with clay--- it has a super hamon hiding in the steel! Surface ground flats, rounded/mirror polished spine, bevels ground to a pretty thin edge with a 60X belt (made a few passes against the rotary platen to give it just a touch of convex geometry).

I've gotta charge more for this blade than the fighter blank I posted yesterday, because it's much bigger, much more refined, and has a killer hamon. Plus, it's ground thin enough a person could just sharpen it and use it as is if they wanted to.

SOLD--- :)

Fighter/bowie blade- 9"L X 1-1/2"W X 0.252" at ricasso
Forged from 1-3/4" round stock, and differentially hardened with clay. This one has a ridiculous hamon ... one of the best I have done with clay.

The flats are surface ground, the bevels have been ground down thin and buzzed with an 80X disc on the 9" disc sander, and the clip has been roughed in.

Sold- Thanks David! :) shipped in the states

Hunter blade- 3-3/4" up to 4-3/8" blade (depending on where guard shoulders are cut in) X 1-3/32"W X 0.156" at ricasso.
Forged from 1" round stock, and differentially hardened with clay. This blade has a subtle hamon with a lot of cloudy goodness in the transition (I know, because at one point, I had it completely finished out!).

Unfortunately, it sat around and got some rust on it (thanks Washington climate! ;) ) so it needs to be refinished... just hand work, as it is completely finish ground.

SOLD- Thanks bowdude! :) shipped in the states....

Thank you Joe! It is much appreciated!!! :) BTW- I sent you a reply to an email from you quite awhile ago... now I'm wondering if it never went through. :foot:

I'll take the small hunter style blade! Any other big blades that you may consider getting rid of for ~100....?

Please PM me your preferred method of payment!

Hey again guys, I've got a couple more.

A giant, ROUGHED out integral and another personal carry sized fighter blade.

standard.jpg

Okay, this integral is FAR from being a finished piece. I forged it out of 1-3/4" W2 round, but I left it real thick. The reason being a friend of mine had wanted an integral blank to play with, but he doesn't have a way to forge or machine down large stock. I left all kinds of meat on this one so he could do whatever with it... but it's been a couple years and he hasn't bothered coming to get it....

IMHO this one has a ton of potential, but will require a lot of work!

Blade- from bolster to tip is 10-3/4"L X 1-13/16"W X 0.350 at the spine near bolster and 0.120 at the edge. Like I said, it's a BEAST! :D

OAL- ~15-1/2"

Right now, it has sort of a southwest-ish camp knife look to it, but it could be shaped to just about anything. It has been thermal cycled in my salt bath so it's soft/easy to grind/ready to harden once it's ground.

$120 shipped in the states, will gladly discuss int'l shipping if anybody is interested :)

BTW- in case you missed it, this blade is still in a very rough state! ;) LOL

Personal carry fighter blade- forged from 2" W2 SQUARE stock! I forged this blade out of some W2 that I got back when I was first trying to find it... way before it had risen back up to a "household steel." A couple of the blocks I got from them ended up having small inclusions in the steel.

This blade has a couple small inclusions on each side... they might grind out, they might not. They are purely cosmetic and won't hurt the functionality of this blade at all.

All the thermal cycling and hardening were done with my digitally controlled salt bath. Since I have built a much better understanding of differentially hardening withOUT clay, I re-hardened this blade recently. It has a KICK ASS hamon in it!!! It really pains me not to finish it out, but I've built a big part of my name on fit&finish, and the little inclusions would not be accepted by my collectors.

I'm tell'n ya, this one has some crazy awesome stuff going on in the steel! I'm including close-up shots of the inclusions so you know exactly what you're getting here.

Blade- ~7"L X 1-7/16"W X 0.228" at ricasso
Surface ground ricasso with bevels ground pretty thin with a 60X belt.

SOLD- :)... Thanks for looking guys! :)

Wow Nick this is an awesome opportunity! If I wasn't extremely strapped for cash right now I would have purchased a couple of these-- Even if just to learn from them.

Hi folks-

Doh! I totally forgot to include any payment info in this thread! :o :foot:

All the prices I posted include shipping in the states.

Whatever payment option works best for the buyer is fine with me. Paypal usually seems to be preferred by most folks, and that's fine too. :)

My pp addy is Merckman99 at yahoo dot com

Or, I can shoot you our mailing address if you'd rather do check, mo, cash, goat trades, whatever. ;) :)

Oh, bassinhuntin- the camp blade in the first post is taken, or did you mean the integral blade I put up in post #7?

FWIW- I have some more blades I'm looking through... Plus, I'm starting to think about devoting a week every month or so to building blanks... because I LOVE hammering out blades and rough grinding them. I could do that all day, be dirty, burnt, and exhausted... but want to do it again the next day. It's the fine detail finish work that is hard for me to stay focused on. There seems to be a lot of interest in the roughed out blades, which is really cool for me! :)

THANKS GUYS!!! :)

If the personal carry Blade- ~7"L X 1-7/16"W X 0.228" at ricasso

Nick,

I'll send you an email, but a blade like some of the above may be a very good way for us to progress with our project. No?

Wanted to let you guys know that all the blades are on their way via USPS... it should be 2-3 days. Thanks guys!!! :)

John- I've got another blade forged out and rough ground to the pattern, I just have to get it to cooperate during heat-treat! I sent an email a few months back from my hotmail acct, since I didn't hear back I just put the big camp blade to the side... sounds like I need to bring it back to the front! LOL Thanks John! :)
