Here is a camp axe forged from a single chunk of 1060 steel..The poll is heat treated just like a regular hammer and then cleaned/polished..Cutting edge is 4" wide, the head is 7 1/4" long overall and weighs a bit over 2 pounds with the hickory handle..head has a forged finish..The handle is straight grain hickory..Lightly burned, then stained..Sealed with boiled linseed oil and finished with wax..
Asking $119**SOLD** shipped priority with conformation in conUS...Paypal or postal money orders are fine..The paypal address is wolfcreekforge@bellsouth.net
Thanks..

Awesome hawk! One question (and by no means a criticism): will the polished poll cause it so slip off hard surfaces when hammering? I used to watch my Granddad, who was a master carpenter, take a file to his new hammers and score the striking surface. I asked him one day why and he said it gives the hammer some "bite" when striking a hard surface (like a nail, pin, or wood stake) and cuts way down on ricochets. Was wondering what your thoughts are on this?

Great job - bet this would make quick work of just about any task ...

No, thats fine..Its a good question..To be honest lots of folks just like the look of a polished poll..Most people seem to want them that way so Lisa sells them like that..On a side note a polsihed face on a smithing hammer is very good because a good clean smooth hammer face wont leave marks on the work..

I'll take it!! Been wanting one like this. Paypal has been sent.
