Here is another rustic blade I forged from 1095 carbon steel. I love this kinda primitive but refined look that always gives a knife a one of a kind character. The tang is also forged and tapered under the hammer making the shape very comfortable and the balance insanely good. After forging the blade was hollow ground (I like a hollow grind because you can get a thin slicing edge with a more beefy tough spine) with a convex secondary edge honed to a razors edge. File work is added to spine to give the blade an additional touch of class and also acts to provide a purchase for the thumb. Like the rest of my carbon knives this one is differentially heat treated for good toughness and edge retention (The edge is about 60 Rc with the spine in the low 50s). Tiger stripe maple scales dyed brown with black spacers were selected for the handle and bolted in place with loveless bolts and epoxy; Tung oil is used to seal the wood. The sheath is a heavy 8/9 ounce leather with a leather carry loop that can be switched to right or left side carry.

SPEC SUMMARY:
Steel: Forged 3/16" 1095 with an edge hardness of about 60 Rc
Blade Length: 6 inches from tip to wood scale with forged flats and ground bevels
Overall Length: 11.2 inches
Handle: Tiger stripe Maple scales with black spacers
Sheath: Brown 8/9 ounce tooled leather with right or left carry.

Would this make a good, heavy use camp knife? Would the blade need to be regularly oiled after use?
Thank you

Hello jereds,
This is a tough hard working knife and would hold up to lots of heavy camp use. The dark forged sides are a kind of a heavy patina that hold oil well and are much easier to maintain. The steel bevels however are not protected as well and will darken with use and it is recommended to keep them well oiled.
Thanks,
Kelley

I'LL TAKE IT!

First time buying on this site. Please let me know next steps.

Hello jereds and thanks for taking the knife. Next is how do you want to pay? If you use paypal you can send to the account in the description above with a mailing address and I'll get it sent right away. If you want to use a check or money order I can send you my address. I'm marking it sold now.
Thanks again,
Kelley

Received the knife today... love it! You did a great job. Great feel and seems to be built tough. Can't wait to start using it.

Quick Q: What do you do for maintenance? I typically put an extremely light coat of mineral oil on the blade and wood handle. That way i only need one product. What would you do/recomend for this knife?

Thank you,
Jered

Hello jereds,
Thanks for the feedback, the mineral oil should do the trick. The tiger strip maple is sealed with tung oil but the mineral should e fine.
