This was a good one to watch. Interesting how they chose the three pieces to make their first blade.

I would have taken a different tack on that one. I would have grabbed two files, and a couple pieces of chain saw chain and forge welded those between the two files towards the handle end. That way you would have done what was necessary but the two files welded together would have made a great weld and a great knife. Its always easier after the fact.

The shields were first rate. I could not have done as well.

I'm with you there. i've been watching men at armes pretty muche since the beginning and I was siked when I saw Ilya comme onto the set. I had no doupt in my mind he would be the whinner, especially when they reveled the shield, him being first and formost an armorer by trade.

I thought the shield that won was pretty amazing. Even if the other dude had finished his I don't think it could've beat the Russian dude's. Had that shield been made back in the 1700's I think it would've been made for royalty. It at least looks good enough for a rich SOB to buy it today and hang in a weapons collection. Pretty impressive.

The ONLY part of the show I don't like is when Marcaida starts waving the blades like he's a mall ninja- then he delivers a half ass blow to the target. Let David Baker step up to the plate, swinging like he's hitting a home run.
