Forged in Fire

I just started watching the show. It's like a knife making version of chopped. I'm not crazy about some of the phrases they use but overall I like the show and enjoy the knife making process. It has made me appreciate things that I've never really cared for such as damascus steel, fullers, etc...

Every time I hand my wife a knife she says.. "It has good balance (slices the air like Doug M)...It will cut, It will kill" She likes the show more than I do. It's entertaining. I liked watching Travis W.

Thanks for all the interesting replies. I made a couple knives for my sister's and had them over for dinner one night when it was time for the blade quenching. "Dinner and a Show" lol They never miss a show now. One of the best things on tv.

I don't understand folks who complain that the show isn't realistic or that they intentionally make it harder for the smiths to do their best work. THAT IS THE POINT! If you want an all-inclusive, start to finish program, buy one of the many Knifemaking instructional videos out there to help support your favorite maker.

Do you realize how boring the show would be if it was a true, real-time representation of bladesmithing? .... "Season 3, episode 1: Clocking the Mosaic Pins."... It would be 4 seasons till we see a sharp edge.:p

It's reality TV so they have to keep it interesting and fast paced for the cameras.

Nice show, but they really need to have the prize bigger than 10K I think.

Nice to see a sense of humor these days,:D I like it also and sometimes Doug looks like a freek'in buzz saw with some of those blades.
