I forged this from 52100 high carbon steel, an alloy known for taking and holding a good edge
Heat treated in my digitally controlled furnace to a hardness of Rc 58-60
Slight convex grind with hammered texture near the spine to help keep food from sticking to the blade
Professionally stabilized spalted maple handle; dishwater safe but never in the dishwasher. There is also some subtle curl.
The handle has been sculpted for comfort with a swell for the palm, flats for the index finger and thumb and flats for the third and fourth fingers. The balance is slightly heavy to the handle making the knife lay naturally in the hand.
Overall length is 7 1/4 inches with a 3 1/2 inch blade about 1/8 inch thick at the index finger and tapering to the point

Very nice Gerry! I want to buy this for my wife, but it's just a tad too big for her I'm afraid. Too bad, because I really like the looks of it!

GLWYS! :)

I appreciate your reply. building for hand size is always a challenge so I usually make my knives to fit my average size hand and hope for the best.

Very nice. I like forged knives that still have the forging marks.
