forging cheap ball pein hammers to hatchets?

Sure they can,this was a small ball pein hammer I bought from a pawn shop for $2,I still need to drift the hole out a bit bigger and get some expert advice on how to attach the handle.I think I`m going to use some curly maple.This was my first attempt and it turned out better than I had hoped,I will be making more out of the larger sized hammers soon.
