Forging "new Steel" with Aldo

I was with Aldo yesterday. We forged out his "new steel" I named it Brun80, We'll see what Aldo's gonna call it? We forged the first two test pieces. Aldo annealed his before I left. He's gonna Grind and heat treat today!!:thumbup:

The Typical formula is:
C..........75/85
Sil.........15/30
Mang.....30/50
Cr.........40/70
Van.......15/25

I haven't received the Heat Treating Schedule yet. The steel is called 80CrV2. I'm thinking this steel will do a real good job for us. I am putting out a couple of sample pieces this week. We will be reporting on the results soon.

Boy that Aldo isn't getting any prettier is he LOL? Will he be taking some of this to blade this year?? Good luck with the new melt guys.
 
I'm glad you posted that. I had found the same info. I finished the blade I was making on Saturday with Stabber. I'll try and get a handle on it tonight and then it's off to the testing grounds.
