At what temperature should wrought iron be forged at? Does it matter?

Thanks.

Temp matters a lot with wrought iron. Wrought iron should be forged at a yellow heat, near the welding temp. The better refined the wrought is the colder it can be worked , but it still needs to be worked very hot compared to modern mild steel. If you work it too cold it will crumble and pull apart
