Forgive Me for I have sinned.

Aint that a bugger, when you get a new knife, then have to go through the bite/cut then it truly becomes yours. :p

Sure am glad, you still think the M2 is a heck of a good knife for the $$. I have all the biggys and more, Spyderco has to offer, and I must say this M2 is hard to beat. For me it's a natural user, not a safe Queen.

Exactly. I wont be selling/trading mine. It's a keeper.

Good stuff!

So, here are my final thoughts on the Mini Rukus after a couple days of handling it. I'm cutting the carry time to none as it's obvious what the deal is; it's going back to the dealer. Yup, first knife I've ever returned. Too many $$ to keep something I don't like a lot.

The good.
1) It's quality, no doubt about it.
2) Nice blade shape/finish (prefer satin or stone washed tho)
3) Built like a tank
4) Attractive.
5) Of course the Axis lock is great. (For the most part, see below)

The "bad"
1) Operation. Thumb studs; flicking it open requires an odd angle on the studs due to the shape of the front of the handle.
2) I'm not a fan of slippery grips. Thus I went for G10. The G10/Micarta on this model might as well be stainless. It's too slippery.
3) Micarta. Yup good stuff, I have about a pound of it (it seems) on my RC-5... should have thought about how it looks after a little in hand time, it sucks-up skin oils bad. Don't mind the RC-5 looking "dirty", but don't want my high-dollar folder looking that way. Yes, I know there are replacement inserts available, but another $30 into a knife that doesn't blow me away is not going to happen. Yes, micarta is easy to clean, but I don't want to do it all the time.
4) Too thick. I don't mind a large folder in my pocket (love the millie for example), but when it get's that thick it bothers me.
5) Although it's designed to be a tank, it's just too heavy.
6) Axis. To get the freedom of movement I prefer, blade play happens, too much of it. Seems with the Axis, adjusting the pivot screw is all or nothing.

I really wanted to like this knife. There are a few knives out there that I'd like to have and pass down, this was one on the short list. Once in hand, my first reaction was "weird". I handle my knives a lot while reading, watching the tube, etc. (and usually have a couple band aides to prove it), how they feel in hand and operate is important to me. I'm sure the 615 will handle cutting tasks very well, but it just doesn't feel great (to me).

I actually prefer the Manix 2 (for a fairly large folder). Few do G10 as well as Spyderco, perfect amount of texture IMHO. M2 is MUCH thinner and operates almost as well as the BM 615. When you compare prices of the two, the M2 wins BIG. When the next (FFG) version of the Manix comes out, I'll be all over it. I think some attention needs to go into refining the ball lock (including the cage for better feel), but it's damn hard to beat at the price.

So there it is. Bottom line is there are very few BM's that interest me, the 615 was one of them. Mark it off the list. I will add that across the line, I don't believe anyone makes more user friendly, functional knives than Spyderco. Some maybe over the top in appearance for some, but there can be no doubt, at Golden form follows function.

Great blade; I EDC'd my Mini-Rukus for a year and a half, but it's a chunk to carry in a pocket. Must make a belt sheath for it. That S30V steel and the blade geometry make the 625 an outstanding cutter, one of the best.

You have strayed from the path and found the party lacking. We shall welcome you back into the fold. ;)

The only Benchmade that really appealed to me was the 520. Sure I like it, but not nearly as much as my other Spyderco's.

Eikowan thanks for the up date, I know it's a bummer when a fella really wants a particular knife and finds it not to be what he had in visioned.

I purchased a BM Kulgera at a brick and mortar, paid higher than I should have, and I really don't like it at all. Couldn't return it as the store has a no return policy, unless the product is faulty.
Live and learn as they say, Spyderco all they way for this boy, from now on :D

blues@@@ rat finklestein; i am 70yrs old and had this computer 3 weeks..never typed or used a com. before. sorry 7for un intended grammer @ any rudeness. will try to remove smiley face @ use better english . 0s

Hehe I had the same experience with the rukus and went back to my millie. Love the shape but hated carrying it.

On the other hand, I recently sold my millie and got a benchmade 530. There is nothing quite like it in the spyderco line up.

Dont worry...I plan to get a tasman to make up for the millie (there is nothing quite like it in the benchmade line :D).
