Forgive me if this has been asked 100X before...

Hey! I thought you (Godspeed) said you didn't have a Firerod? That's one in the BK2 pouch sheath pic. Maybe I mis-spoke. At least, it LOOKS like a Firerod...Is it ESEE? Firerods have Exotac and Habilis logos on them.

Yeah that's an "ESEE-Fire-Kit" I need to get the Exotac Firerod, I've seen it and it looks like a much more manageable size for some kits. The Exotac Firesteels I have are the Nanostriker and the Nanostriker XL.

Not crazy about this design but it's definitely compact:

By the way, this is the "mini-firesteel" holder I was talking about (found a pic) on a Buck Hoodlum Kydex Sheath:

Thanks for the mention too, I'll see if I can't get that Exotac FireRod in this week.

Back on track with the OP's question on the BK24.

I picked one up after the second back order at Tomars, put factory Zytel scales on it and never looked back. It usually lives under the seat of my fishing boat in its sheath. Some times I forget its there and leave it hanging off the compass on the helm for a week.
The blade shows no sign of rust or patina of any kind. The edge is still shaving sharp (Work Sharp Knife and tool convex).
The Mounting screws and nuts that came with the scales are showing some rust but not too bad yet. I should probably change them out to stainless some time soon.

One big difference between the D2 and 1095 CroVan was how the D2 took a little more work to sharpen. The Worksharp still went quickly just more passes to get to the apex and refine. And a little more time with the strop.

Hey its still a Becker so whats the problem. And it is a Ka-Bar, and heat treated by them so.....
