Impressions - monster blade! it is wicked looking, and it is a beast. I wear a size 9 leather working glove, 8.5 if I want the leather to be nice and tight for specific type of work, medium-large in mechanix, etc. So the fusion handle has a lot of room as usual for me. I love the CGFBM and NMFBM for chopping, so this should work nicely - still the SHBM handles are the best for me and always will be, i'd imagine...
Hard to tell without a test to see how this will chop compared to the classics with its different grinds, etc. The length alone should generate lots of power and it is just a beast to wield. Surprisingly, it does not look "ridiculous in hand" (well, it is kind of ridiculously badass looking in hand), of course, that is coming from a Busse aficionado! Most regular people would think this is insane and I am sure most of my friends will have the same feeling even though they are used to seeing my larger Busse's.
Completely unique Mistress variant with a place all of its own in the pantheon of Big Busse Blades, in my opinion. It cannot really be compared to any other blade I own, aside from fusion handle. The grinds that are shown on the comp finish version are just something else. Beautiful comp finish on this one!
I like the blade a lot - I got it because it would be unique and so it is, indeed.
Likely will move the comp and beat on the CG - I love that combo, and wait for the Nuke to come in and see about it. I am trying to not "collect multiple blades to sit on" and I think the Nuke and a CG might be with me for awhile.
Bottom line - it is a completely unique blade of all Busse's I own and it will be sure to wreck some wood when I get the chance. An over the shoulder rig would be perfect for this one if intending to carry into the woods, or hike with, or a good blade to throw on an ATV/in the truck. It no doubt has power in it, and the .25" is manageable.
Swinging with wrist and forearm it is difficult to discern a huge difference in overall "heft" from the CGFBM at .25", I think due to the bowie grind.
It is also pretty awesome that the tip thickens back up as you can see in the comp photos especially - a great little detail/design feature that is important.
