I picked up a DotD khuk labeled as a Ganga Ram Special/Bonecutter from Bhakta at $175. It's a non-chiruwa at about 34 oz and 18 1/2". I did some work to the neem handle (it came a bit big for my hands, at 6', 200 lbs) and I am about to finish the handle. Overall I am happy with it, and it is a nice chopper.

yeah i noticed that on the HI shop website, that the ganga ram and bonecutter are very similar.
Boywondered- i like the handle reworking, do you find the ring to be annoying?i imagine that it will dig into my palm, but we will see. if it doesnt bug me, then i wont file and sand it, otherwise i will make it look like the m43 handle.
C.S Graves- yeah i saw the hair mower vid too, nice for a thick chink of steel. i was really into the AK bowie, but the length just isnt there. it would be a good field knife but looks to be too heavy for things a bushcraft knife can do, and wouldnt chop as well as the CAK or bonecutter.

i like the super CAK too. looks like a good, heavy use tool.

^type that into youtube Norm, good for a laugh. but that thing is huge!

hi guys - question - this is the second time i have read about "super CAK " - what is "super CAK " - the 20 inch CAK i got last week is beautiful and a solid handful of steel - is there something called a "super CAK"

The ring was pretty annoying in the original place it was located. With my grip, it put it right in the middle of my ring finger (this was actually the biggest motivator of reworking the handle) so I moved it up about 1/4" toward the blade. Since I have moved it, it hasn't been uncomfortable.

Others have noted that it is nice to have the ring to help keep your hand from slipping, and I have definitely noticed that. It helps make it feel more secure. Like you said, if you don't like it, it is really easy to sand it off. You could also keep part of the ring, and flatten it a little on the palm side, so that it doesn't dig in as much.

Thanks Cpl - I think the one that came in my mail last week is close to the same size = i will have to check it out

Thanks

just checked my return status, taxes will be here in 9 days. pretty good since i filed them a week ago. should get here just before the bonecutters start to arrive.

Yeah, it's a bit of a niche blade. Almost more the sort of thing one would want for a very compact cleaver/pack hatchet/prybar hybrid.
