I am beginning to find there are more and more forum members here in Southern California. Some I have met in other states and countries, some I worked alongside for years, but never crossed paths. Here are some pictures of a day hike we did in Southern California in the Mt Baldy area. It is nice to take a little time out for ourselves and just take a walk outside, it’s even better with friends!.

I notice the BHK is being carried baldrique style. I was thinking about doing the same with my Koster. How does it work out?

Looks like a good time and the photos are great. Any chance you could tell me which sak models are in the pics. I see that there is one Vic. and one Wenger. Just curious as to which models were chosen.

Mine was absent form the pics.... I think I was digging though my truck when Reuben took it... but I carry a SAK Fieldmaster. All I really want on a SAK are scissors, saw, can opener, screwdriver, and two blades. Anything else is just extra.

Thanks for the reply. Being a huge fan of the sak I am always curious as to what model others choose. The fieldmaster is my favorite. You are lucky to have some like minded fellows close to hike with. Again great pics, I really enjoyed them.

Jim,
Kyle owned the Victorinox Recruit and I was carrying the Wenger Traveler this time. It doesn’t have a saw on it, but I was carrying the new prototype carabineer kit from TOPS and it has a kick ass saw, so I was covered. My usual SAK for the trail has been the Hiker. I love it, but hate not having the scissors. On survival trips to Alabama and Peru, I carry the Victorinox OHT (plain blade) because it is the larger one handed version of the hiker.

I didn't know you had a Fieldmaster on you. Next time I want to check it out.
