Forum's blue G10 Native [c41}

Talk about a loaded question. Does the slippery, scratched handled Native come with a glass blade?

Hmmm . . . Looks like I gotta get two of them, so I can polish one of them!

The Native is shaped so that it can get away with having little or no traction in the grip material.

Not that it will make much difference at this stage, since it is unanimous anyway. Still it's nice to be asked and even nicer to know you'll be listened to. Put my vote in for the textured also. Thanks to everyone at Spyderco for making this knife possible, even if it does mean I will take longer to save the money for my Chinese Folder

Seriously, there has to be some benifits of having the slick handle, otherwise he wouldn't have asked us. The only explanation that I can come up with are:

1. Possibly the imperfections in the handle add class, or uniqueness.

2. Maybe the slick handle looks better?

3. Maybe a it would be nice to have a unique handle that no other spydie has

That is all I can think of... I will go against the norm and say I would like the slick handle.

-Knives why do they spell it with a k anyway?

Textured, by all means please. By the way, I am stuck on my Military. Like the Amex card, I don't leave home without it!

Got here late but I' ll have my say. TEXTURED! Smooth is useless unless you are going to just look at it! That' s why I refuse to buy a micarta Goddard and Jess Horn! If the knife is designed and made for using why put a smooth finish on the scales?? Like the Kershaw Onions!! It stinks!(:^)Aaahhhh... feel a little better now. BTW, what shade of blue is planned to be used?

Smooth.....Textured.....
???
Textured.
What do you think or like Vince?
And also, thanks much!

I also got in late but I figure better late than never.
I intend on using this puppy so please make it textured.
thanks

Welcome Vince! My vote goes to textured. I have two Militarys and they are sweet!
Thanks! Fish

Now, hold on for a minute here and hear me out. At first, texture sounds like the way to go but I would like to do a little bit of analysis. What will you do with this knife? Will this knife replace your regular carry knife? Or will this knife be a show piece that will see limited useage? Or will this knife be carried a lot and used very little?

Lately, I have been carrying my Kershaw Random Task for many reason and one of which is the polished G10. The polished G10 has caused more curiosities than my regular Benchmade 970ST, my Johnny Stout Gemini, or my Military, or my Microtech. The Forum's blue G10 Native (c41) for me will be a show piece with limited useage same as the rec.knives Benchmade Mel Pardue. Therefore, I believe the clip side of the Native (and the clip itself) should be highly polished and the non-clip side textured. Now, isn't having the best of both world the only to go?

I would like to see both! Perhaps you could make just a handful of smooth handled knives which could be offered to the 4 or 5 people who want one!

I actually like smooth handles. They can be seen on the Calypsos, Goddards, Jess Horns, Vieles, Al Mar folders, etc. I have no problem with the texture since I am not a marine prone person. I believe they are more aesthetically pleasing and considering the design of the Native's handle, a smooth texture will have minimal effect on purchase of grip.

So.....please make some smooth handles!

SMOOTH, SMOOTH, SMOOTH, SMOOTH, SMOOTH, SMOOTH SMOOTH, SMOOTH, SMOOTH.
Here we have an opportunity to have a one-of-a-kind Spydie made for us, and your choice is the plain old boring everyday textured G-10!? Why not accept this one as a jewel in our collections and have it polished. What´s gonna happen next? A bead-blasted blade, so that it´ll rust away after six months? If you want a blade to hack though car doors, why not go with the martial or military?

The process and meterials to make a smooth G-10 handle are different than textured G-10. That is why Vince asked. Blue was originally selected to differentiate the BladeForum.com from the other G-10 handled Spyderco knives. Someone had mentioned smooth scales, I wrongly assumed they spoke for everyone.

Spark, maybe another survey? We would prefer to make just one handle style or the costs begin to go up. thanx for all the input. I'm looking forward to getting my own. I've wanted a G-10 Native for some time.

Well thank's everyone,it seems that textured is the choice for most, and as Sal says it would be dificult to make both.
So as I see it, blue G10 textured,440V blade
plain or 70/30 serrated and may be a blue clip which we are still working on.
Will keep you all updated on time frame.

P.S. A survay by the crew say's the blue color is a flat medium royal.

Thanks Again.
Vince
