Will I cut down a couple of big palms in California back in the late 70s.They are tough!! The wood is very fibrous and very WET when you get inside of the tree.I think I wound up using an axe on them.I do remember it being much more work than I thought it would be.
Funny thing.I had the TV on and when I got back from taking the g'daughter to work there was aprogram on Discovery about the furnitur being made from Palm Wood.
I kninda caught the tail end of it,but the wood is very splintery until the finish is put on.It also takes several coats of finish.
Needless to say it is very beautiful And Very Expensive.
I wasn't even aware that the wood was useful untill then.
