• Happy Thanksgiving to all of you! I hope that you all have something to be grateful for this year and for many years to come
  • America has reached 250 years, and I am grateful to be here, in the best country in the world. Thank every one of you who helps make this country a better place, those who have gone before and risked it all, and those who've paid the ultimate price to make the United States what we are today.

    Happy Birthday America! Let Freedom Ring for all time!

Fosset's Plane Found

I have hiked that canyon many times. If he hadn't found it, I eventually would have.....

All day I wondered if it was one of us that found it. With all the California hikers on this forum I figured it was possible.
Could he have bailed out and made himself disappear?

They found "remains." Not very much, but I assume they're confident they're human remains. They're either Fosset's, or a body planted by Fosset. The latter seems ridiculously unlikely.

I think it is Fosset's body, planted by Fosset. Mac

Well put.:thumbup::)
I see now that they say small pieces of bone were found. I hadn't seen that yesterday.

I'm sure they'll perform DNA tests to confirm. Though he had no children, I think he has other family members to be able to do that.

It's a remarkably beautiful area! Alpine lakes and meadows, and rugged high peaks with year round snow. I think he was in a borrowed plane that he may not have been that familiar with, enjoying the scenery, and he flew up a canyon he couldn't get out of and crashed at full speed. Weather and winds can be nasty up there too!

The primary search area was more to the north and east, so I can see how they missed the crashsite all this time.
