LOL,you're secrets safe with me Dave! You crack me up.:)There's a Bass Pro an hour drive from where I'm at and one day if I can get away,I'm there.Never seen one.Nice find!:cool:

Great find Dave . I've heard of the real dark slabs on some of them but have not seen one . Hope your adjusting to everything in FL.. DM

The Bass Pro by me has one. I didn't know they were hard to find so I didn't even ask if they have more than one.

If that's the one in the Manteca area that's the one I plan to visit while I'm here taking care of my Father.

Hey,

They have them in the bass pro in atlanta, picked it u 2 weeks ago. They had a few from what I can remember. They also have them online and they are in stock. I am still looking for a 192 in CPM-154. They should have a cutom option to do any knife in CPM-154, I would own all of them.

humm odd ... mine has a date code for 2010..
i thought buck quit offerign the cpm 154 several years ago!
least it has bee a long time from when you could order one from the
custom shop!!
wow feel so out of date... any one got the details on this?
like i was jest looking and asked why that one was so much more...
yep i thought it had been over two years sence they offered that steel..

From my experience, CPM154 will not hold an edge quite as long (but not far behind), but man it does take a WICKED edge, better then CPMS30V and it holds it's initial wicked sharpness longer then S30V, though I guess it won't hold a working edge as long. I don't really know about that as I never let my knives get dull. Plus I have think that I have heard that it is tougher, meaning it won't chip on the edge, but rather roll. Paul Bos does a great job heat treating both.

CPM 154 should have the same fine grain structure as CPM S30V, but it won't have the 4% Vanadium carbides which have a Rockwell hardness of 82 and add extra wear resistance to the blade. Most steels benefit from the particle metallurgy process because the purity is enhanced, and the grain size is reduced. The CPM process also allows extra Vanadium to be added compared to conventional smelting, and CPM D-2 has increased corrosion resistance compared to ordinary D-2.

Yep...that's the one. They still have it too. I just went there after work yesterday on my way to Anaheim. Does anyone know of any good shops around Anaheim for knives? Also, what do you guys think of the Bob Timberlake 110 from Bass Pro? I hope I'm not thread hijacking.

Plaza Cutlery in South Coast Plaza, Costa Mesa. If you haven't been there yet, prepare to be blown away.

Have you noticed that the CPM-154 seems to take a finer edge and hold that finer edge longer then S30V? I know that bucks 420HC will take a killer, razor sharp edge, and CPM-154 will too. I have noticed this vs. my other S30V knives. But then again, by other S30V knives have been heat treated by spyderco and benchmade, and not that their heat treat is not good, but Paul Bos, as I understand, is THE MAN, when it comes to heat treat.

The AG 110 is razor sharp.:)

I'm going to have a Buck I own in CPM154 pro sharpened to a 'real' razor edge and have the point re-profiled to be more needle-like and double edged for 1"....And then it's ONLY job will be for self defense...A real 'razor' edge is to thin and will chip to easy to be a EDC..

To be honest, I haven't carried my CPM 154 blade long enough to redo the factory edge. I haven't had any problem putting a fine edge on my many S30V blades. I haven't noticed any premature edge wear on any of my S30V blades. My current EDCs are ZDP-189 and Stellite 6B (Talonite). I am trying to work an S110V into the rotation.

I hope I haven't confused anyone by putting the Buck model 110 knife in the same post with Crucible Steel's CPM S110V steel.

Alright guys, just got finished sharpening up my Buck TNT S30V blade to a mirror polished finish equal to my Buck 110 CPM-154 blade. Wow, Bos really does a great heat treat with the S30V. The other S30Vs I had were benchmade and Spyderco, and this knife sharpens up great. I can still barely tell that the cpm-154 is just a tad..... little bit sharper by the way it just glides through paper, but this just may be me. But I can tell a noticable difference between all the other knives I own in S30V. Bos does a great job...
