Was rooting thru some fishing gear and found this . I dint know I had it or where it came from, Most off my blades are fixed or AOs, So this was kinda neat to find, Needs a little clean up (or some good use). Think I will use it to clean my next batch of wild leeks. It is stamped "Imperial Ireland" .

Nice find, TLG...

It's always nice to find something you forgot about. Those shell handle Imperials are not the most robust knives out there, but I've always found the steel to be pretty decent and servicable.

I don't really have but one or two "Irelands", but I have many, many of the Prov. Imperials. IMO, hard to beat for the money...

Hi,

Yep, nice find. I've got an Ireland in my pocket right now. Pretty nice steel in those blades. As a youngster I never liked the shell type scales, but I now kind of appreciate them for what they are.

Clean it some and carry it. Now too much though, let it wear some of it's scars and age. And soon you will be selling those AO's and those fixed blades. You will be here agonizing over whether to get a Moonpie or the Swayback, or jeeze maybe just the yaller' peanut.:D

It's insidious and it always starts with just one!

I've got a yellow Imperial that's identical to your (except it's a Prov. RI) that my father-in-law found at the dump! Good little knife!

The shell scaled little Imperials can be nice little knives.

Here is a picture of a MOT 3 3/8 well used but still works fine.

Enjoy your new find!

I agree with the rest of the gang here. Good knife with very serviceable carbon steel blades that take and hold an edge.

Great little find, and btw, I also like your pack of matches prop that you photographed it with too!.. :)

.. As a second thought here, I thought I'd add my recently found in a Junk Yard bone handled Imperial stockman made in 1936. Found her whilst looking for truck parts with a friend. She is a fine little user..

After I told my mother about the old slippie I found, She gave me 2 more that belonged to my Grandfather. Big one says "Kamp-King" the smaller is hard for my eyes but I think it says "Camco" but I cant really see it to well. I know they must both be very old. The yellow on is very thin. So all of a sudden, I have 3 slippies, (not counting my SAKs )

Hey, nice find!

I agree. However, (nasty word, that!) in order to a person to "find" another person has to "lose". I have lost a sufficiently large number of knives to know what a heart-wrenching (for me, at least) experience that can be. Glad for you; sad for them.

The shell bolster Irish Imperials were great knives at very reasonable prices. As long as a lot of torque was not used on them the knives worked just fine. Their carbon steel blades were great "cutters", too. These knives are yet another reason to mourn the passing of Schrade.
