Found a time capsule

[Zippy T-Bone]

Howdy! This past summer, I helped my parents downsize and move to a senior condo complex. Going thru the mountain of stuff they had accumulated over a lifetime, Pop's 92 and Mom is 80, I got a box of my Dad's, Dad's things, and in it was this gem. A new in the box Buck 119 from the early 60's, as best we can tell. Still has the factory edge. Not sure what my Grandad planned for it, since he hunted and fished all his life in Montana. I have the last knife he carried which was a stag-handled Case XX. Here's some pics of the Buck.

looks perfect condition there. belongs in a collection.....good time to start your own. ya have a great start.

It was pretty amazing when I opened the box. Not sure I'm going to keep it since he never used it. His old Case on the other hand, that one will get passed down.

I would imagine only a handful are left NIB complete like..Somebody will really treasure it! Its a little sad that Buck will probably never cut anything like rare muscle cars in a museum that are never started..

Big, they were all made of 440c steel. Forged, as fine blanking came later. DM

seriously needs to be kept as pristine as possible. don't even breathe on it.

Exactly my sentiments, sleek and smooth. Compare the fuller with that of a new one. That is basically a custom, handmade knife knife.

On the classic 100 and 300 Series knives, Buck needs to bring back that two-piece tan box. Those knives and their heritage deserve better, more special, packaging than a clamshell.
