Found a tomahawk head on our land in oklahoma

Help me out, please. What about it looks cast to you?

A couple general reasons.

There is no weld line.
He cleaned it with CLR so that would acid etch it. Any weld line or forge marks should show themselves.

There appear to be vertical lines going up the bowl that look like casting lines or faults.

It looks like casting faults in different places.

I might be completely wrong and off my ammo can. I'd love to get hands on and have a good hard look.

I have a cast 4140 tomahawk. The steel has a different look and feel before and after sharpening than forged.
The shapes of the two are nothing alike of course. Not to mention this carbon steel versus mine in cheap stainless.

I'm no authority in any way, that's just my overall impression of the tomahawk.

I like it and would be giddy as a school girl if I ever find anything that interesting.

jdr9942 - If you ever come out my way(west of San Antonio a ways) I'll lend(or trade) you a metal detector. It's not an expensive one, but it works.
