Yeah been thinking of having a thumb ramp removed on one of my 3 BK9s. I won't do it myself as I'm smart enough not to trust my skills to do it. No thumb Ramp BK10 or BK7, I'd be all over that as well. The thick 1/4" spine with no thumb ramp was the reason why I got the BK2, heavy duty multi-tool where other knives would fail from what it can do.
The modifications where done when the knife was gifted to me

Yeah. That was a very kind thing for your friend to do. That knife is a treasure.

For FFG BK2s, they would work as more "Well Rounded" Knives some would say, my experience with 1/4 spine FFG blades shows me they can do about most bushy stuff as a thinner blade, I got enough of those knives to cover that area. But I got my BK2 as short heavy duty task doing multi-tool. I favor a saber grind for that and am Jealous you got a BK-10 with no thumb ramp with a good sized saber grind blade.

I don't think removing the thumb ramp would be too difficult. With a dremel or a belt sander I have modified a few knives and axes go slow and keep it cool . As far as the BK2 vs BK-10 if you process fire wood the extra thickness would be an asset I don't process wood with a knife. So the thinner BK 10 makes a better slicer with plenty of strength. It is all personal preference. Yes the knife is special to me I was having a rough time with my anxiety and depression when it was given to me plus another member gifted a kydex sheath for it . I out nearly everything up out of the way a couple of weeks ago due to having surgery on my foot last week and being on crutches I left my BK 10 out incase I needed a knife

I sold my BK2. It is too heavy for a knife that doesn’t chop well. If I am going to carry a pound of knife it will be the BK9.

The BK10 and BK12 are plenty durable and they weigh less and cut better. I bought a BK12 and never looked back.

I would try a flat ground BK2 but preferably with 3/16 stock instead of 1/4.

There were a couple of 3/16" blanks in box of history Ethan gave me during move. 1066VIK may have drooled and even kept one them to mess with.
