I just got back from my trip to San Diego. It was, for all intents and purpose, a business trip, but I extended it by a day. My wife and I used that day to go to Cabarillo National Monument, and do some antiquing in Ocean Beach. While there I found a lot of meteorites marked WAY down, but didn't buy any of those because I didn't have a magnet to test them with. Massive pieces marked down from $120 to $60 would have been a steal if they are real. Most of the pieces were glued to things like mirrors and frames.
The only thing I did decide to bring home was this wild boar tusk I found for $69. It's 10 inches around the curve and weighs in at 5.2 ounces. They had two in the case at that price, but I only wanted the one.
Another antique mall just down the road (Newport Ave) had a number of things made from boar tusks priced over a thousand dollars... needless to say they were left behind.
Someone who lives in the San Diego area ought to check out those meteorites. They were claimed to come from the Diablo Canyon area of Arizona. I don't know what that says about their value, but I never heard of a giant meteorite being worth so little.
